Consists of a dynamic group of Podiatrist located in Mildura and Renmark.

Our Practice Is Changing

Please be advised that as of the 1st of July 2019 Jonathan Ellis Podiatry will no longer be a bulk billing practice. This change in our practice will only affect our patients that are currently under the E.P.C program.

How will this affect me?

As one of our bulk billed patients you have currently not been charged any extra for your appointment. This has given the illusion of your appointments to be free where in reality your appointment does come at a cost. Thanks to Medicare the Government offers $52.95 towards a podiatry appointment for anyone who is under the E.P.C program. As a courtesy Jonathan Ellis Podiatry made the decision not to charge for general care appointments any more than the funds the Government offered, $52.95. As a result you have not needed to pay anything for these appointments. As of the 1st of July we will be now charging what is known as a gap. This means that we will now charge above the funds offered by the Government, in line with our current privately paying patients. Therefore after using your E.P.C funds from Medicare there will be an amount remaining to pay for your appointment, also known as a gap.

So why is this changing?

1. The bulk billing fee has been frozen by Medicare for 8 years. In this time we have seen huge increases in all of our costs. The fee has not kept in line with making it viable to employ staff, maintain services and be compliant to the many requirements at this rate.

2. Claims made on behalf of patients, when rejected by Medicare, have often lead to abuse of our staff. When contacted people are unwilling to settle accounts which is causing us unnecessary stress.

3. Administratively the EPC program demands a lot: processing of referrals, reminding patients to organize documents, following up on accounts - where we would like to focus our efforts on podiatry care.

We are still able to accept referrals and will continue to provide the ongoing care but the consultations will need to be paid for at the time of the appointment and the Medicare rebate claimed after.

An example of this is shown below:

Standard Consult:  Fee: $70 (Pensioner)   $75 (Standard)

Medicare Rebate:  $52.95 (with a valid E.P.C referral)

Pensioner:    $70.00   paid at the time of appointment

                    - $52.95  rebated from medicare

$17.05  the out of pocket cost for your appointment after calculation (a.k.a gap

Standard:    $75.00   paid at the time of appointment

                    - $52.95  rebated from medicare

$22.05  the out of pocket cost for your appointment after calculation (a.k.a gap)

Fighting For Our Farmers

October is National Foot Health Month, so in the spirit of Australian mate-ship the team at Jonathan Ellis Podiatry are asking you to put your feet in our hands to keep our farmers on their feet. We are OPENING all of our clinics on Saturday the 6th of October and offering our services for just $50.

100% of your $50 will go straight to our Aussie farmers to show that we are all standing with them in these difficult times. Our goal is $5000 so bring a friend in with you and get a check up or alternatively donate to the cause by clicking on the link below.

Places are filling fast so give a us call and make an appointment to see one of our great podiatrists. We will be wearing checkered and flannelette shirts on the day so continue to show your support by wearing them too and we will donate an additional $1 for every shirt that walks through our door.

Please share this with your family and friends and let our farmers know they don't stand alone!
