Dry Needling/Acupuncture

There are many different styles of acupuncture that are practiced today. In addition to the classical form of acupuncture practiced for thousands of years there are several modern styles of acupuncture have been developed.  These incorporate western medical knowledge.   The term used to describe this practice of acupuncture is classified as western medical or dry needling. It is defined as the “insertion of acupuncture needles into muscles at specific locations to produce a local twitch response”.

This form of therapy can be used to treat conditions such as heel pain, tendinopathy, bursitis, neuritis as well helping with neurological conditions which lead to hot or cold feet and tingling / numbness. It can reduce pain and improve range of motion and is used widely throughout the sporting community. There continues to be quality research in this area which helps us understand the effect this treatment have and the impact it can have on our patients. Our practitioners are trained to the highest level and are able to treat the entire lower limb, whilst conducting annual professional development in the area.
